With Putaruru defaulting to Huntly last week ,thistle took the points, but still had TeKuiti to play this week, and they were in second place. To close for comfort. A win was imperative, and with Dan Wright and Simon Mendez, out with injury, and some walking wounded, the coach was a little apprehensive. One good Aspect was the return of Cyrus Nepe after a long lay off with injury. The kick off and Tekuiti went straight on attack, Huntly were slow to respond although the defence held firm and TeKilai hardly had a good shot on goal. As the blues Piled on some pressure, the game was very even , end to end stuff. After 25 minutes a good move down the left and Toby Snapes put a grand cross over to Robbie Wills Who powered in a header to open the scoring. By now Huntly were holding a lot of possession and missed some good opportunities to go further ahead. On 40 minutes another slick passing move and Jamie McNeil Scored a cracker. Tekuiti came back and from a corner which looked to be going behind the goal, fooled the blues defence , and Tekuiti made the score 2-1 at half time. After the break Huntly came out firing, and in only 5 minutes play Jamie took off down the left and from a narrow angle scored a beauty. Another 5 minutes another goal From Cyrus, and the Tekuiti lads started to lose their momentum, and were restricted to taking long shots, easily coped with by the thistle defence. On 80 minutes James McCraig wandered from the back into the Tekuiti goalmouth, hit the ball straight at the keeper and managed to score when the ball rebounded to him. Finally just before full time Jamie scored his hatrick, Huntly winning 6-1. Rakish Vikash was subbed off with a bad ankle injury, and Luke Foster, a high school boy played The last 20 minutes, and played a very good game. The game played in good spirit saw corners favour Huntly 9-5 and free kicks 9-6 to Tekuiti. With Putaruru losing their game again defaulting, next weeks game at huntly, with one last match in a fortnight at home to Waihi, Thistle has an unassailable lead at the top of there division.
