On the Strength of the Paid Previews Chennai Express should be able to put up a very respectable figure of around 6 crores, approximately. This is a very difficult figure to guess, as we do not have much data about the no. of shows yet. The Advance Bookings for Friday shows is excellent. The previous record for highest first day net collections is held by Salman Khan’s Ek Tha Tiger, which was his most recent film and was EID release too. With SRK coming this year on the same day, in a Rohit Shetty Film the chances are very high. But, we are not talking about chances anymore. With around 3700 Screens in India, And an advance booking of 50% on an average throughout the country, the first day figure of 30.75 crores is not a difficult task at all. The film will easily surpass the figure and set new records. But, since ETT was a Wednesday release, the Weekend figures look tough, but achievable. The reviews for the film have started to flow in, and are mostly positive. So, a good word of mouth can take Chennai Express very easily beyond 3 Idiots’ untouchable till now figure of 202 crores net.
