With Tamlyn away this evening sponging a free holiday, Dan Heffers - TopicsExpress

With Tamlyn away this evening sponging a free holiday, Dan Heffers will be covering tonight’s action. What a night it was down here at Goals Southampton with some brilliant Football on show, there were some close fixtures across all three divisions. The Premier Division kicked us off with a superb game between Ragged Boys and AFC scripted. The Ragged Boys came out victorious with a 14-11 victory however they certainly weren’t running the Scripted boys ragged. A spirited display from AFC saw them reduce the deficit dramatically in the second half. If it wasn’t for Jack Burge in goal for Ragged the score could have been different and the boy’s may have needed to find a couple of extra gears to beat the Scripted lads. A great game all round though with some excellent stuff on show, the second game in the Premier Division was due to be Newtown Saints v Demolition Squad. However the Newtown Saints couldn’t field a side, so the Exeter Gently boys made the step up to face Premier Division opposition and they made a great account of themselves only to lose by a last gasp winner. This wasn’t Exeter’s first game of the evening they had already been in action earlier in the evening in the Championship against Barry Manilows Love Children. Despite another great display from the Exeter boy’s Barry Manilows came out on top with an 11-10 victory. It really was a great game with either team in with a shout as the game drew to a close but the Manilows prevailed, to keep their promotion chances a real prospect. Elsewhere in the Championship Exeter Softly carried on their rich vein of form with a 10-8 win over an under strength Decathlon side with Martin Given putting in a performance his name sake Shay would be happy with. Another player for the 5 men of Decathlon could have provided the extra legs to push for a result. Ridonkulous currently occupy top spot in the Championship and they showed why this evening with an impressive 9-5 win over the The Muffin Stuffers. Tom Woolson, with a stand out performance, which has earned him a place in Heffers team of the night. League 1 offered two fixtures this evening however they were not as close as some of the other contests, but they were equally as thrilling to watch. Top of the table Breast Rummage Albion continued their fantastic form with an impressive 9-2 win over Budhampton. Unfortunately for the Budhampton boy’s they were up against it from the start with Goals very own Scotty stepping out for them. The evening finished with a scintillating display from Unathletico United over New Breed. Unathletico played some really nice football at times with Mark Bradley earning Man of the Match, his audacious attempt at a chip after a mazy run clipping the bar was a personal highlight. Making my Sunday league debut this evening was a pleasure with such great Football on display, I hope it continues in future weeks!!!
