With Veterans Day coming up Monday, I wanted to share pictures of my Mom and Dad in the Navy during WWII. Thats how an Irish Catholic girl from Brooklyn ended up married to an Okie from Dewey (and Welch). My Mom operated a Link Trainer to teach instrument navigation to aviators and my Dad spent most of his time in Brazil attached to a squadron of flying boats patrolling the South American coast. I am also attaching a picture of a flying boat (a Martin Mariner) from his squadron. Appently the most excitement he experienced occurred while he was getting a haircut. I dont know how well it will show, but I am attaching a copy of a newspaper article from the Dewey paper. Jim and I are also technically veterans, but somehow being a Remington Ranger (personnel records specialist) in the Oklahoma Army National Guard doesnt seem to be the same thing.
