With a genuine smile, I did as I was told. The clothes they had - TopicsExpress

With a genuine smile, I did as I was told. The clothes they had given me were quite large, however. I had to hold the pants up at my waste and the collar of the shirt draped right over my shoulder. Diesel said that I would grow into them. That made me happy. The dinner was delicious. Gael had cooked a lot of fruits and vegetables, such as apples, broccoli, oranges and carrots. All of them were delectable. He had cooked a fish within them, which was something that I had never eaten. The flavors of the fruits and vegetables had been layered into the flaky fish, making it taste that much more divine. I simply couldnt get enough. They explained that when they did eat meat, they preferred it to be fish. This wasnt because of the taste, as much it was because the river was overpopulated with them. They would wash up onto the bank, seemingly for no reason at all. As we ate however, they told me a grand story about how where we lived was once a grand country, where everyone was free and equal. The Grand Church started superfluous wars with our neighbors, just to claim more riches for themselves. With the threat of eternal damnation, the people of our country were afraid to stand up to them. In time, the Grand Church had conquered all other nations. This had caused the money they had garnered to be completely worthless. Their lust for power did not die there, however. They began killing people who they called infidels. These were people like us, who were attracted to members of the same gender. Also, there were victims who were attracted to both genders, as well as people who werent attracted to any gender at all. Even people like their mother, who were born into the wrong bodies were slain. All of them were brutally murdered in the name of a loving God. Apparently, the Grand Church had more technology than the guns that I had seen. I was told of computer systems, bombs and flying machines that people were able to ride in. I couldnt imagine any of it, because it all just seemed so fantastical. When I asked my newly adoptive fathers why everyone in the Grand Church acted so strangely when Kareenas family was first introduced, they flinched a bit. They then told me that people once came in lots of different colors, but the Grand Church had killed a lot of the nonwhites, just because of their race. That depressed me, greatly. My favorite part about Kareena was her beautiful skin. The more I thought about her, the more concerned I became. I just couldnt stand the idea of my beloved carrying the baby of her rapist. It made me sick to my stomach. Losing myself in thought, I gazed down at the table in silence. “You love this...Kareena. Dont you...Alexandria?” I blinked, flashing my eyes back up to Diesel. He sat directly across from me. Gael was beside him. Silently, I nodded. The dark-haired warrior reached across the table and touched my hand. His fingertips were so warm and comforting. “I want you to be proud of who you are.”, he sighed, offering a smile, “and of who you love.” My brows arched as my smile faded. He tilted his head, confusedly. “How am I going to be proud of her...if Im so afraid for her life?” Diesel took his hand from mine and leaned back in his wooden chair. He then crossed his muscular arms and smirked towards Gael, who was chewing on a slice of cooked apple. Noticing his husbands smirk, he nearly choked. After swallowing, he cleared his throat and turned back to Diesel. “No. No way. No how.” “But darling, we have to!” “How?! The poor girl barely escaped on her own. We couldnt possibly put her back in there!” “I want to.”, I stated, suddenly. They both turned back to me. Although Diesel was smiling with enthusiasm, Gael seemed to be quite surprised and concerned. I turned to him. “I-if youre talking about saving Kareena...I want to.” Gael let out a sigh of defeat. He seemed to be quite annoyed. Seeing this, Diesels smile grew even wider. I could tell that he was excited about the whole thing. “If were going to do this...you have to have years and years of training.”, Gael stated sternly, flashing a very serious glare towards me, “and I mean rigorous, hard, difficult, working until the point of death and then some, training.” I squinted my eyes. Silently, I flashed them to my crucifix, which I had placed beside my plate. The blood upon it was no longer my own. It belonged to my enemies. Although I was scared to step into battle again, I knew that I needed to return to Kareena. “Is there any way we can do it soon?”, I questioned, turning back to Gael. He glared at me, bitterly. Slowly, he shook his head. I could tell that there would be no way to convince him of the idea I had of an early morning attack. “...alright. But...years?” He nodded, solemnly. “Years. You will have to master your crucifix, as well as a sword and a bow. I will not take you back in there without you having the knowledge you need to protect yourself. Not when they have guns and that chemical acid they like to pretend is Holy Water.” My brows meshed as I squinted my eyes. I tilted my head. “...chemical?” “See?!”, Gael spewed, turning back to Diesel, “she doesnt even know what I chemical is!” His husband tried to calm him, but chuckled a bit in the process. I couldnt help but smile as I saw how much they truly loved each other. It was inspiring. They told me that they would walk me every step of the way. With their kind voices and their beautiful eyes, I felt safe once again. I agreed to the training, but I had no idea what I was in for. It would be the toughest thing I had ever done in my life.
