With a growing young population and almost three million children still out of school, investment in education is critical for Afghanistan’s long-term sustainable development. Afghanistan needs educated and skilled men and women to serve in the security forces, to work in mines, to attract tourism, to trade and participate in the market and to master the Afghan entrepreneurial spirit. As members of the international community, we need to collectively invest more in education, science, technology, innovations and collective growth, which will indeed promote our goal of peaceful existence and respect for human diversity.
