With all of the recent rescues, and the more that are to come, we wanted to remind everyone on the process from rescue to adoption. Once a dog is rescued, he or she is taken to the vet to receive the proper medical care/attention needed. The dog will be at the vet a minimum of 14 days - (4 day hold included) & (longer for more serious injuries/illnesses). Once medically cleared, our rescues will then come to the boarding center where they will be socialized with our awesome volunteers as well as temperament tested. To gain the best possible knowledge of what environment our rescue will thrive in, we will take whatever time is needed to make sure he/she is placed into their forever home and its a perfect fit. After all the above is complete, then he/she will OFFICIALLY be placed up for foster/adoption. We will announce it here on FB and you can then visit our website to complete an application if you are interested. This is the time applications will then be accepted. Applications are not first come first served, they are reviewed and a home is chosen that we feel is the best fit for that rescue. Needless to say, we have been inundated with phone calls, emails and FB messages regarding our most recent rescues and while we have tried to be diligent in responding to all of these inquires, we cant continue to do so, at the current time. This is time consuming and our concentration is currently in the field. Additionally, its just too soon to know any concrete information about rescues who have only been with us a day or two and dont have most of the answers to the questions being asked. Please know that any inquiries received regarding one our available adoptable dogs will be responded to in a timely manner. We have many other amazing dogs in our care that are ready for adoption. Their photos and bios are up to date on our website and we would like to encourage all of you to help us network these dogs, by sharing this post and the link below, and help us get them into the forever homes they deserve. Moving these dogs is just as crucial as it opens up space to allow us to continue to bring in more dogs in need from these frigid temperatures. detroitdogrescue/available-dogs/ Thank you all for your encouragement and support!!
