With all the issues, messes, and problems in the Hartford area, the recent dismissal of the excellent on air staff of a classic/historical radio station might not seem like a big deal... but to many of us it is! It is senseless, shameful, and stupid. And it isnt even a new thing. There were three reasons over the past few years I listened to The Talk of Connecticut (WDRC AM). Brad Davis, Mary Jones, and Dan Lovallo. Each of these wonderful people and their programs were local, refreshing, and stimulating. When Dan was dismissed it broke my heart. (But I really enjoy, as many do also, when he is back on the mic.) When Lace left my heart sank further. I grew up listening to and watching Brad Davis and I have always enjoyed him. On the FM side, I was really disappointed and sad, like many others, when they decided to get away from playing the classic oldies of the 50s and early 60s. I recently saw the current Movie Jersey boys with my lovely wife Leona and people were singing along with all the songs of Frankie Valli and the Four Season young and old. So dont tell me or the fans that that music isnt still hip. But this clean sweep at WDRC is ridiculous and so many of us are saddened by this blow. And we believe, know, and guarantee that whatever new format this new company will attempt to replace what made DRC great with will blow also. Hartford Radio............ Hartford Area...... Just another brick in the wall that is fallen out of the wall.
