With all the other issues going on in the world this seems minor, but today Shrewsbury lost another historic treasure as the antique home circa 1817 at 661 Main Street was torn down. This was the big white house one down from the Allen Funeral Home, that had the wooden benches outside the front door and the lattice glass room at the eastern end of the house. A quick check with the Worcester Registry of deeds shows the property is now owned by a builder and with its 1+ acre parcel I am sure it will be replaced with more than one new home. I am note sure the town leaders could have done anything to stop this I am just disappointed that another piece of history on Main Street is gone. Does anyone know the history of the property?
