With apologies and thanks to my friend Peter Cotsis, I have plagiarized part of his recent status for this post.... Everybodys afraid of something. The right is afraid of gun control. The left are afraid of GMOs in the food supply. The fence-sitters are afraid of the right and the left. More government, less government, more regulation, less regulation; The stuff you spend your life worrying about? Thats the stuff that generally never happens. Its always something you never saw coming. And Im also realizing more and more that when something bad happens to people you love all the other stuff just pales in comparison. Right now, with Jennas illness, I couldnt give a flying you-know-what about gun control, climate change, local politics, global politics, Putins ambitions or Sandra Bullocks midnight stalker. Its all completely effing irrelevant compared to the distress of family or close friends. Call me short-sighted (go ahead, but I dont really care), but its all about priorities. I dont understand people who sublimate the needs of their loved ones for abstract concepts and ideologies. So, being, unfortunately, very familiar with the things that I never saw coming, I no longer worry about any of that other stuff.
