With clime change, more heat-waves; with more heat, more wild - TopicsExpress

With clime change, more heat-waves; with more heat, more wild fires. With more wild fires, greater threat to our infrastructure - including such things as open-cut mines. Imagine if, in a few years, with Clive or Ginas big coal mine projects up and running, fire gets into their open-cut mines. Who will foot the bill for that? Can you say corporate welfare? How much is Hazelwood going to cost us all, in both direct and indirect costs? 200 firefighters, many volunteers Im guessing, should be getting substantial remuneration; they are not paid to fix the problems of corporations - Hazelwood is owned by International Power and has an expected life-span out to 2036. Maybe this will change things a bit...
