With every new day, we find ourselves more and more entangled in such trying times. Our shoulders get just a little heavier, and some of our backs continue to bend while others break. Knees start to shake, quivering from the stresses of personal and political decisions; many of which feel as though they are completely out of our control. This cycle continues day in and day out, and shows no sign of relenting. It leaves our consciousness in a state of disarray, distorting the lines between what is wrong or what is right. It creates a resentment that can only be reflected by oneself in hindsight. We’ve all been there. “I could have handled that better” is a constant thought that each person on this planet has, so long as they feel a sense of morality; no matter what that morality may be. And with each hindsight, the trend appears to be a numbing of emotion, and the tendency to turn “I could have handled that better” into “why even bother.” This is not the way. This is what happens when you make a decision, whether conscious or not, to give in to the stresses that have taken control of everyday life and its environment. It used to be, that “I could have handled that better” turned into “I should have handled that better” and inevitably when circumstances repeat themselves, you prove that you are now in fact a little bit better. This is the way of development. This applies to every aspect of life; for the activist, for the humanist, for the family, for one’s own aspirations. Sadly, this seems to be a dying mentality. People tend to shun away from what requires them to actually do something, especially if it involves themselves. I will admit that I am among those guilty. I do not believe there is a single one of us who isn’t. Sometimes we just don’t find the energy within ourselves to make that effort. No one is perfect. The inspiration for this does not come from anything specific other than a mere pondering on the apathy of the world; and the observations that we are so quick to turn on each other for little to no reason. The change must start within you. Peace - Justice- Unity to All - Switch Blade
