With heavy heart I am posting an update on Phoenix. He had a pretty rough nite last night. Seemed unable to get comfortable, acted like it hurt to lie down and was panting, which can signify pain. He ended up getting off the bed and went under it and I heard him on and off, moaning. Tried to coax him out a few times, and was up and down checking him till about 4:30 this morning when I finally fell asleep. Got up at 7 and he continued to sleep for a little while. I went and got ready to start the day and went back to the bedroom. Helped Kasa get up and to the hallway then called for Phoenix. He crawled out from under the bed and trotted over wagging his tail. We made it downstairs and he actually tried to play a little with Kasa. But it was short lived. He slept on and off all day. I had put a call into the vets so Phoenix and I got out there at 3:45. Dr. Todd met us in the lobby and we both decided we couldnt wait any longer. The lymph node has gotten larger, and his stomach is hard. So Monday morning at 8:20A.M. phoenix will have his chest and stomach xrayed, a biopsy done on the lymph node and possible surgery. The vet is concerned it is cancer of his liver or spleen. I cant begin to tell you all how much your msgs., phone calls and comments on FB and text msgs . have meant to me. I would give anything if he could fight this. I fought his heartworms alone, when I got him and his will to live was gone. But, two wks later he found his strength and will and he fought hard and won. I look at him and I see he is tired and I think he is in pain, he definitely is uncomfortable. I will not be putting him thru surgery if it only buys him a short time. I promised him when I pulled him from the pound I would always be on his side and protect him. It may be the last thing I can do for him, but I will be keeping my promise to him.
