With heavy hearts, there have been three more True Blue In The Line Of Duty deaths in the last 48 hours - Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers go out to the following agencies and families, both of blood and of Blue: NY/NJ MTA Police Officer Thomas Choi, 62, succumbed to injuries sustained 13 months ago when hit by a vehicle while he was removing traffic barrels to re-open the bridge. Ofc. Choi was struck while reopening the Brooklyn-bound lower level of the Verrazano Narrows bridge on Oct. 20, 2013. Ofc. Choi He was treated at Staten Island University Hospital and Seaview Rehabilitation Center but never regained consciousness. Our Brother leaves behind a daughter and a son. Ofc. Choi is the first officer to die in the line of duty in the 81-year history of MTA Bridges and Tunnels (Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority). End Of Watch: 12-29-14 LA - Denham Springs Police Motors Officer James E. Foster, Jr., 39, succumbed to injuries sustained when a vehicle cut in front of him. Ofc. Foster was responding to a crash riding a fully marked Police issued motorcycle southbound when a female, 78, attempted to make a left turn from the center turn lane causing Ofc. Foster to broadside the vehicle. He was thrown from the bike and suffered critical injuries. When medics arrived on scene, our Brother was not breathing. They revived him and transported but this proved to be his final battle, though his mission was not yet complete - Officer Foster remained on life support to finish his final call of organ donation. Police Officer James Foster Jr. was pronounced last evening End Of Watch: 12-30-14 CA - A City of Avalon Harbor Patrolman was fatally crushed between a boat and a rock at Green Pleasure Pier in Avalon Harbor on Santa Catalina Island while trying to protect citizens during the storms off the coast late Tuesday night. Our Brothers name being withheld pending notification of his relatives. We will update once released to public. Police determined there was no criminality involved, and was not charged. We disagree with this decision because the closed gates were down and flashing and his vehicle also had lights flashing. The 78 year old female driver of the vehicle involved with Ofc. Fosters death was given a citation of failure to yield turning left at an intersection. A civilian was also killed during the storms in California at the same time as our True Blue and our thoughts and prayers are with their family as well. We will update this as well with a name once released.
