With holiday travel expected in the upcoming week, and snow and rain forecasted, the Boise Police Department would like to release these safe driving tips. 1. Time and Distance: Keep your speed a bit lower and allow for more space between you and the car in front of you when driving. Precipitation during the day and colder temps at night can lead to slick roadways. 2. Wear and Condition: Check the tread of your tires and make sure that the wear and condition is adequate. 3. Be Prepared: If you’re traveling out of town, pack some extra supplies. Include warm clothes, a blanket, extra water and food, and emergency lighting in your car in case something should happen. 4. Be Patient: With the holidays come more drivers on the road. Realize that traffic will be denser, and try to be patient while out and about. 5. Clear those Windows: Completely scrape or defrost all windows before hitting the road. The front, rear, and side windows must be completely clear of obstruction when driving. 6. Check Local Road Reports: Be sure to know what to expect when driving somewhere for the holidays. Check the local road reports of where you will be driving.
