With huge sadness we have to report that our beautiful MILO has gone to the rainbow bridge. Many of you our loyal supporters followed his story and wept tears of frustration and exasperation with us when 10 year old Bodeguero Milo was scooped up off the payment where he had lay in agony after jumping from a roof terrace where he had been kept 24/7. He jumped on News Year Eve 2013 terrified by the ongoing firework displays and he welcomed in 2014 with two broken legs which he sustained in the jump. Your support, your well wishes and your donations got Milo through operations and a long recovery period in a foster home in Spain. Yet more donations secured his transport to the UK to a lovely foster home in West Yorkshire where within a week of arrival he was taken on a beach holiday and shown the ropes by Marlon another ex Spanish Stray. It was clear Milo loved life in the UK and was very happy. Sadly yesterday Milo took a very small fall down a couple of steps and his leg rebroke in the exact same place above the wrist bone. He had seen his foster mum coming and flew at her overjoyed to see her, in his haste and joy he fell. We took the very sad decision to put Milo to sleep this morning on the advice of the vet because it appeared that he would have to go through yet another long operation and recovery time with limited mobility and both the vet and we felt this would be cruel to him as even with another operation it would be weak and he would have been very likely to have broken it again. We are all very sad but in his short time in the UK he knew so much love and had so much fun and we take comfort in knowing that even though it was for only a short time he DID have his HAPPY ENDING. We would like to thank his foster family Sharon and Mary for caring for him and giving him more love than he had ever known. RIP MILO we tried so hard for you, we are so sorry this happened to you and that you knew such cruelty in your life, run free at the bridge little man you are out of pain now.
