With its extremely interesting and original film footage and by merely focusing on Shahs foreign policy to prove that he was a victim of Wests dirty politics against the integrity of Iran, this documentary completely overlooks the domestic issues and the overwhelming social pressures that had built up over decades deep in different layers of the Iranian society as a result of Shahs alienating policies. The way he talks in most of the interviews in this documentary is yet another proof of how he flaunted monarchism and shahism when republicanism was at its climax. In one of the interviews, he addresses the interviewer with an utterly bold tone and I paraphrase it here: You (the West) have previously decided about who to appoint prime minister in Iran, how do you feel about that? You are disappointed because you cant do it again? This is a completely deluded approach! He forgot that he came to power as a direct result of the CIA-MI6 overthrow of Mosadeq and now he unashamedly uses that as an example to defend his own integrity! His tone often reminds one of Khamenei and his patronizing approach towards the rest of the world, as if Iran is the only country on earth that deserves to be respected and revered by everyone. Saddening and quite depressing to learn how similar the two of them are sometimes. Regardless of all differences, their despotic approach and mentality is very much the same. این مستند با بهره‌گیری از آرشیوی بسیار غنی و بکر ساخته شده و فقط روی سیاست خارجی شاه تمرکز کرده آن هم به شکلی که ثابت کند شاه قربانی سیاست های غرب علیه او بوده است. سازندگان این مستند سیاست‌های داخلی شاه را کاملا نادیده گرفته اند و فراموش کرده اند که فشار اجتماعی که در لایه‌های مختلف جامعه برای سال‌ها شکل گرفته بود نتیجه مستقیم سیاست های شاه بود. طرز حرف زدن و لحنی که شاه در بیشتر مصاحبه هایی که در این مستند آمده حرف می زند نشان می دهد در دوره ای که جمهوری خواهی در اوج خود بود او تا چه حد شیفته امپراتوری و پادشاهی و شاهنشاه بودن است. در یکی از مصاحبه‌ها با لحنی تحقیرآمیز به مصاحبه‌کننده می‌گوید شماها هر نخست‌وزیری را که خواستید آوردید و بردید. حستان در این باره چیست؟ ناراحتید که دیگر چنین قدرتی ندارید؟ این حرف را در حالتی می‌زند که خودش بعد از کودتای بیست و هشتم مرداد علیه مصدق با سازمان های اطلاعاتی آمریکا و انگلیس سر کار آمد. طرز حرف زدن تحقیرآمیزش با مصاحبه‌گران و خطاب قرار دادن کشورهای دیگر بسیار یادآور لحن خامنه‌ایست. یک طوری که انگار ایران تنها کشوریست که ارزش احترام و دنباله روی دارد در کل جهان. بسیار غم انگیز است این شباهت. بدون در نظر گرفتن همه تفاوت‌ها همین نگاه استبداد زده به دنیاست که در هر دوره ای گریبان ما را گرفته است.
