With less than three months to go in 2014, movie studios are starting to roll out this years Oscar hopefuls. Octobers schedule is highlighted by Alejandro González Iñárritus Birdman, David Ayers Fury, David Finchers Gone Girl, and Jason Reitmans Men, Women & Children. But the season picks up in November with the November 7th release of... Interstellar Matthew McConaughey, the 2014 Academy Award winner for Best Actor, will headline director Christopher Nolans latest big-budget science-fiction adventure Interstellar. McConaughey plays a widowed engineer who joins other explorers and scientists in transcending the limits of human space travel by embarking on a voyage through a wormhole. Nolans last science-fiction effort, 2010s Inception, won four Oscars and received a nomination for Best Picture. Once again, Nolan is working with the award-winning visual effects team Double Negative, and teaming with film composer Hans Zimmer, who also received an Academy Award nomination for his work on Inception. Interstellar, though, will mark Nolans first effort in over a decade without long-time cinematographer Wally Pfister. Hes been replaced by Hoyte van Hoytema, who shot last years critically acclaimed film, Her. Interstellar also stars Academy Award winners Michael Caine and Anne Hathaway, as well as Oscar nominated-Actress Jessica Chastain.
