With my upcoming East Africa Photographic safari, and luggage - TopicsExpress

With my upcoming East Africa Photographic safari, and luggage weight limitations, I have to seriously consider each and every item I take with me. I decided not to take a tripod as it will be of little use for much of the trip. We will be essentially travelling around in safari vehicles for 10 days, where a tripod cannot be used. With the prospect of having to shoot hand held for 10 days with a new heavy lens, I however decided to purchase a beanbag instead. After doing a substantial amount of research, I decided to give The Pod a go. There were many beanbag options, but most involved me trying to find filling material on arrival, and would need to be physically moved from one shooting position to another. What appealed to me about The Pod was the weight (350g) and the fact that it screws into the tripod collar, meaning that it is always attached. I am certainly interested to see how this goes on tour, and no doubt will write more about my experience with it. THE pods are very simple, high quality, beanbags with built in 1/4 universal mounting bolts. THE pod will act like a tripod when set down or a stabilizer when braced against any handy surface. THE pod can even stay on your camera when you are on the go. Perfect for group photos, travel, low light and places where tripods are not allowed like museums, malls, churches, galleries, monuments, etc. The pod greatly improves picture sharpness and color clarity by reducing or totally removing the hand shake we all have. THE pod can be set up in an instant on any handy surface, can support a tremendous amount of weight and is almost indestructible.
