With no local track at this present time, we took a journey to At the Track Raceway in South Bend Indiana to track test the new prototype chassis. I changed it around a bit and decided to use (2) .063 piano wire rails, and (2) .063 brass inner rails for durability. This set up still offers a little bit of flex, but you can mess with any size wire youd like. Car was built centered up (no offsets or removal of the provided Knock outs for oval racing), and I never added any lead weight. Assembled as shown in the pics, the car weighs in at 177.7 grams, considerably lighter than most Super Stock hard body cars. Rear tires were trued down to 1, .050 clearance. Fronts are trued down to .975, .032 clearance. While assembling, I noticed that a cut down guide with no spacers put the front right at .032. The only change Im going to make is to add another peice to the chassis kit so that people have a wider range on the front ride height for different classes of cars. I used a Pro Slot 4002 FK motor that has 8 races on it, stock springs, stock brushes. Geared 7/33. The body was a previously raced Model King Ford Torino. Mounts were soldered into the 2 3/4 postition. I used Velcro to secure the body, but you can use pin tubes or brass rod floaters in any of the (12) holes provided. As a gauge on the Oval, most cars get around in the 3.0 to 3.3 range. Some dip down into the 2.8s with Modified FCR, or stretched Womp frames. I put the car on the Orange lane, and immediately was able to get down into the 2.9 s without having to run my freshly cut tires in. Jim Crider tried it, and he was into the 2.8s. Rick Stagen tried it, he was right there with us. JP tried it later in the evening and he seemed pleased with it as well. The best run I had was after I cleaned the com on my power supply, when I returned to the track I was able to turn consistent low 2.7s...which as most of you that were at The Super Stock 1000 race, a high 2.7 was top qualifier, which no one else touched. On the hillclimb track, I was very pleased with the overall handleing and performance. Anyway, thats my report. Do I think this car will obsolete any cars we run? No. Its a more versitile, lighter, durable, and tunable option for the specific type of cars we run. Im placing the order on Monday and will accept pre orders once our website is up and running in the near future. Release date will be the first week of June. Ladies and Gents, I introduce to you the B&E Eliminator race chassis.
