With respect to my next chapter I know you have been on pins & - TopicsExpress

With respect to my next chapter I know you have been on pins & needles, so heres the big reveal (for those who dont already know) - yesterday was my 1st full day working in the St. Louis Recorder of Deeds office in City Hall. My title is Records Manager & its a new position that, while not a traditional library gig, did require the library science degree. I will be doing some fairly mundane tasks like handling sunshine law requests & record retention policies, but the really cool stuff will be helping the office to get a handle on what all they have in way of records, how best to preserve them and how to make them more accessible to the public. In addition to birth, marriage, land and death records (which pretty much covers everything, huh?) the Recorders office used to handle incorporations and trademarks and has a ridiculous amount of old maps & plat that I will get to play with. I am pretty excited. Attached are some pics, including my new view (still looking west, but at the municipal courts building), some interior shots of beautiful City Hall, & shots of Sharon Quigley Carpenters swearing in ceremony yesterday (the gentleman in uniform is a police officer who used to work in the office, singing God Bless America) & finally, just for perspective, one of the many Christmas trees on its way out (hopefully to be mulched or otherwise repurposed). Happy New Year all - I will be keeping you posted!
