With so many eager customers in Thailand and elsewhere, is it any surprise that sensible citizens of Myanmar are producing what so very many freely want to purchase? And since governments operate internationally to keep prices very high, the profits are attractive - if only rice farmers were so lucky as to have a product for which there was great demand and artificially high prices maintained by pushing out decent business people to hand the industry over to mafia scum and corrupt officials. Another successful government policy for the intended beneficiaries: corrupt scum and failing justice systems gobbling up vast resources.
