With the BRRRR cold weather last night and forecast for the next few nights, its time for me to make my yearly gentle reminder post about making sure your horses are getting enough water. If you have slow drinkers, please consider adding some loose salt or electrolytes to their feed, or even soaking their feed, to ensure they consume some extra water. Also, offering some lukewarm water to them at feeding time is another idea. Plus, Purina has a new hydration hay available for horses traveling who dont consume enough water. (its another idea to consider - and NO, I am not a paid Purina spokesvet) Just trying to do my part to keep your horses/donkeys/mules/ponies/hoofstock healthy!
