With the announcement that former LNP poster boy Scott Driscoll, QLD State Member for Redcliffe has resigned after a recommendation he be expelled from parliament by the ethics committee, now is our chance to elect a politician that will represent motorcyclists, tattooists and other local citizens who abhor the stripping away of freedom of association, property rights, the freedom to assemble, and Queenslanders’ civil rights in general. If the Liberal Democrats can be registered for state elections in time for the Redcliffe by-election, the party will probably nominate Gabriel Buckley - Liberal Democrats QLD, former Redcliffe resident and organiser of the Brisbane protest rally “Say No to Campbell Newmans Discriminatory Motorbike Laws” ( fbl.me/AntiVLAD ), to run for office. Gabriel (Gabe) is an outspoken advocate for civil liberties, smaller government, community involvement, political transparency and personal accountability. He has considered himself to be a libertarian for the past 12 years and has been a member of the Liberal Democrats since 2003. Gabe is the current President of the QLD Branch of the Liberal Democrats and is Vice President of the Federal Branch. What we need now is a loud and strident voice of dissent in Queensland Parliament, because both Liberal and Labor have shown that they care more about controlling citizens’ movements than they do about government’s vital separation of powers. Please join the Liberal Democratic Party online now. You need to be 18 or above and on the electoral roll, and it’s FREE for honorary (non-voting) membership. ldp.org.au/index.php/get-involved/join-online
