With the appearance of a federal election dimly shadowed across - TopicsExpress

With the appearance of a federal election dimly shadowed across the far horizon, and the ending of the per-vote subsidy to political parties in Canada tied to the back of the slowly approaching election wagons, it seems only reasonable to start asking for something more than just mandates from the politicians. Im offering my vote for a fee. There was a time when a politician rolled into town, stepped up onto a tree stump, asked for a show of hands as to who would vote for him from the gathered citizenry, then took all those raised hands over to the local bar and bought them beers for their support. So, in the current climate, lets see if our democracy is worth more than a couple of cold drinks. The more a candidate is willing to pay me in cash, up front, the more likely Ill be to vote for her/him. This makes sense when you consider that the changing election funding rules will make room for the buying-off of politcal parties by even larger corporate donations, thus more money to pay for my vote. In this modern world, we all are as corrupt as one another, so I’m just getting in on the game at the front end. I wont need to listen to speeches or watch tv debates. Ill be mesmerized by a cash counter on my laptop going haywire with bids. Money speaks, and you snivelling dogs that want the power of a political office are sure to do anything for that seat. Ive watched House of Cards, and I know how it works now. As for the Elections Canada rules, its time they reflected the arguments of a free market economy, which is all thats being advocated here. So, Im starting at $6,000 per vote at all three levels of our political system (This will offset the $5000 fine Elections Canada could invoke for my accepting the dollars, yet still leave me slightly flush.) Yes, consider my vote buyable. With cash. Let the bidding begin.
