With the changes that Facebook is supposedly making, I have been - TopicsExpress

With the changes that Facebook is supposedly making, I have been closely monitoring the numbers on my page since the first of the year. A source professionally familiar with Facebook’s marketing strategy, who requested to remain anonymous, tells Valleywag that the social network is “in the process of” slashing “organic page reach” down to 1 or 2 percent. That would mean an advertising giant like Nike, which has spent a great deal of internet effort collecting over 16 million Facebook likes, would only be able to affect of around a 160,000 of them when it pushes out a post. Companies like Gawker, too, rely on gratis Facebook propagation for a huge amount of their audience. It is pretty alarming to know that a page I have built from the ground up organically will further be limited in overall reach. I have tried to post more and more on my website, but unfortunately social media [Facebook especially] has been my main audience. Going to continue to watch the reach with each post. Generally can expect 10,000 to 40,000 on any given post. I will not be paying to get public information out. Overall I cant complain, its been a great free service for many years. Such is life... you get what you pay for.
