With the country poised with an surge of expectancy, each person voting his choice...there is still a fear ...will much change.... I pull out another poem i had written back in 2006....its still verses the hope and the helplessness....it is titled THE NEW RAJ THE NEW RAJ Sitting in reserved seats, they dictate the politics of democracy. A united front of carnivore, hyenas gorging on down trodden masses; The fattened calf is killed before it can learn its skills. I thought they were on the endangered species list. Living like dinosaurs in their Jurassic Park, off Parliament Street; Fortified! India shining they advertise, The economy on track, so they speak at high teas, While they fodder over kickbacks, contracts and deals. Benami tracks lead to palatial huts, On the streets they don the khadi spin. Cash strapped kingdoms, like remnants of the Raj. The rulers have changed hands, time has turned around. Mute spectators beckon another Dandi march. The budget for their fanfare runs longer than roads, Infrastructure lines their pockets full. Spent force of decades past, They reserve to carve the roots of ours, India sans borders, I see pulled apart under their charge, Religion ,caste or region printed again on our visiting cards.
