With the first day of campaigning for student body president starting today, I would just like to give words of advice to all those campaigning for this job. Student government provides an extraordinary platform for students to get involved and make a difference. It in essence, exists for the purpose of protecting student interests and serves as a vehicle to make changes on campus that will improve your time as a student here and for generations to come. Brilliant, capable, ambitious, and accomplished candidates emerge each year to run for president and at the end of it all only one wins. My advice to everyone is to remember that we are ALL here to focus on student issues. Focus less on petty attacks and how to belittle your fellow candidates and instead dedicate yourself to campus improvement and student defense regardless of the outcome. If you truly care about SA, the students, and SU this will be at the forefront of your goals.
