With the invite to pheasant hunt by my neighbor (Jason), I found my self out of my comfort zone this morning doing something I have never done. I was greeted at six am this morning on my neighbors front porch by Chase & Jenny two English setters Chase being ten years old and Jenny being a hyper one year old. Both of them more the eager to get into thr field and kick up some birds. As we arrived to the filed where we would be hunting for the morning we had to hold the dogs back till the sun came up. Once the sun made its appearance in the easterly sky we turned Chase & Jenny loose it wasnt long before Chase was on point and we where able to flush out our first bird Jason shout out hen unfortunately. Shortly after that we flushed out 3 more hens, Jenny then found her self on point, as we flushed the bird out my neighbor shouted rooster! By then I had a decent bead on the bird so I pulled trigger dropping my first pheasant ever! I have to say I have not had that much excitement hunting in quite some time! Truthfully I was reluctant to miss a day of deer hunting to go pheasant hunting, however I think that my neighbor may have sparked a new passion for me to pursue!
