With the long leash for Abraham Almonte, it had been obvious that Lloyd McClendon wasnt a big fan of Michael Saunders. Before todays game McClendon said: “Michael is playing OK,” he said. “Listen, it’s not great, but it’s OK.” In the last two games Saunders is hitting .500 (4-for-8) with a walk, a double and an RBI, made a nice running catch and threw a runner out at second. Thursday he had a three-hit game. Almonte has ZERO three-hit games in his career (just five two-hit games this year).
