With the many activities since 9/11 (Patriot Act, PIPA and SOPA-bills that sought to suppress Internet freedom to "combat" Internet piracy; the provision of Obamacare forcing all Americans to purchase heath insurance, NSA spying on Americans, bill granting the US military to detain and incarcerate people without the due process of law if suspected of terrorism, and the IRS targeting members of the TEA party) is this country on a gradual collision course towards authoritianism or totalitarianism? Are some of these efforts intended to suppress the Bill of Rights or curb them with the justification of protecting national security and combat terrorism? Or are these activities merely just coincidences that are unrelated to authoritarianism/totalitarianism?
