With the news of yet another American assassinated in the most brutal way by fanatic terrorists hiding behind the mask of religiously justified zeal, we are once again reminded of the utter depravity of humanity. Peter Kassig, a former U.S. army ranger went to Syria to help deliver aid to people caught in that countrys civil war. He was a man trying to do a good thing in a dangerous area to help other human beings. For that, he was kidnapped and killed for political purposes by a group of people blinded not only by cultural bias and religious delusion but by the one whose intent from his initial invasion of Eden is to steal, kill and destroy. Even as I marvel at the depth of evil in this world I am reminded that God sent His Son to save not simply the best of us, but the worst of us. Im thankful not only for the grace that provided my salvation, but for the grace that has kept my own depravity in check during this life. As you survey the landscape of evil around the world, never forget these words of Jesus. These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world. John 16:33
