With the nominations peeping every day, it is better to put the list out. Thanks Ferril Samal, Srijita Jha(mogambi) :p,Yavanika Raj Shah (RGNUL wali) :p, Abhinav Singh Chandel , Nishtha Shukla for nominating though. So, here are the top 10 books according to me (not necessarily in order). 1. The Bhagwad Gita and Mahabharata (varioius editions and publishers, written in Marathi and English) 2. Mrutyunjay by Shivaji Sawant. ( A gem and a milestone of Marathi literature which explains the whole Mahabharata through Karnas lenses. One of the main reason why I admire Karna the most of all the legends in Mahabharata) 3.The Mother- Maxim Gorky ( Do I need to say anything? ) 4.Mein Kampf- Adolf Hitler ( A controversial one but cant resist!! ) 5. Diplomacy- Henry Kissinger ( Experience speaks for itself, have a go at this book and I assure you will start admiring foreign diplomats more than ever) 6. Eleven Minutes- Paulo Coelho ( I have read The Alchemist and Da Vinci Code but this book deals with a more sensible topic and the way this guy handles this and explains the tryst with destiny is worth a read!! ) 7. Kale Pani- Swatantryaweer Sawarkar ( A Marathi gem of V.D. Sawarkar which was written by him when he was imprisoned in Andaman, the language is pretty difficult to understand but once you are through, the book wont let you come out. I have an immense respect for this freedom fighter and leader who became a victim of dirty politics) 8. The Parliamentary System: what we have made of it, what we can make of it. - Arun Shourie ( One of my favourite Indian authors and columnists, especially when in comes to Political science. An excellent gem again, changes your view of looking at the political system and the style of democracy. A must read if you want to know Indian politics and political system more deeply) 9.Symptoms of Facism- Arun Shourie ( If you want to have a re look at the phase of 1975-1978 in Indian politics, this is the book you should go with. Arun Shourie at his personal best, I must say ) P.S- As I come to this stage with only 1 slot remaining, hundreds of books are just making rounds and confusing me, I am picking a random one. 10. Train to Pakistan- Khushwant Singh ( No words needed as t his book is already known to almost everyone.) Books which I would have loved to add are- India: From Midnight to the Millennium- Shashi Tharoor The Fountainhead- Ayn Rand Institutions in the Janata Phase- Arun Shourie And the list goes on..... I hereby nominate Abhijit Mendhe Sir, Aniruddha Joshi Sir, Sohail Khan Sir, Mandar Moroney,Aditi Kulshreshtha, Supriya Roy Kritika Goyal to continue the challenge.
