With the paint complete and a dad overwhelmed by the job his son - TopicsExpress

With the paint complete and a dad overwhelmed by the job his son has done, both of Joshs instructors told him if he wasnt behind a gun he was wasting a great talent, it was time to put all the pieces back. New to EFI and living in small town Iowa, I made the decision to go with FAST EZ EFI. Advertised as self learning I didnt need a tuner to get the Monte up and running. The FAST kit had the ignition and transmission controler included, each with there own harness that had to be tied together. A late Saturday night came and the LS1 was ready to fire, I hoped anyway, so with the turn of a key...... We had fuel spraying all over from an injector. It was missing and o ring. Sunday morning after church, prayers we said, and a 2 hour round trip to an open parts store were once again ready to fire. A quick turn of the key and..... We have lift off, but know the heater core is leaking. At that point I didnt care, it was a relief to hear it run. In retrospect, the FAST system did work, but not without issues. The XIM, ignition box, never provided a correct timing curve andthe EFI ran dangerously lean 18-20:1 at wide open throttle. West Bend Dyno corrected the lean condition but said a lot of power was left that the FAST could not find. Swapping to a GM system over the winter and retuning in March 2014 found over 150rwhp from the self learning FAST.
