With the recent movie that Ive watched, for example -- the Maze Runner, which seems to be making headway through the Box Office, I want to point out that it has 6w5 sensibilities (it means Enneatype 6, which is layered with Enneatype 5: enneagraminstitute/typeSix.asp enneagraminstitute/typeFive.asp) The basic premise of the movie is a society of teenage boys, trapped within an artificial maze, and the boys have no memory besides their names, and for three years theyve been trying to escape. The society of boys are a tightly-knit group, banded together to face off against the vast danger the maze has to offer. When our hero Thomas is sent up from below to join the society, he enters an initiation ritual with the other boys to ensure his bonding with them. His insecurities are tested as Gally, the distrustful brat, picks on and bullies Thomas throughout the movie -- because Thomas the newcomer is breaking the established rules, Thomas is to blame for opening up Pandoras Box by killing one of the monsters, bringing doom upon the society. A habit that Six movies feature is this mode of questioning in the characters, along the lines of the five basic questions Who / What / When / Where / Why? Why cant I remember my name? Thomas asks. What is this place? Who are you people, and how long have you guys lived here? When the girl Teresa arrives, she is defensive and apprehensive of the group -- holding a knife on the top of a tree tower, asking the same sort of questions: Who are you people? Why cant I remember my name? etc. And Thomas is up there, to defuse her anxious fear: Calm down.. put the knife away, Im not here to hurt you.. The Five-wing comes into play when you consider the mystery of the Mazes existence; you must be wondering why is the Maze there, who put the people in the centre of the Maze -- who are behind the scenes of this scenario (besides the author, of course), and what unknown territory lies beyond the Mazes boundaries, waiting to be explored? None of the people are really there to enjoy themselves and have fun, like a Seven. Theyre there to fend off against the Mazes dangers, and find a way out of the maze -- the latter implies a perceptive sensibility, to observe and understand what goes on around you. And finally, when it comes to the loss of Chuck, the petite fat kid, you see Thomas bemoaning his friends fate: Noooo! Whyyyy!?? For a Six, their friends and allies may be more important than themselves, and as counter-intuitive as it may sound, seeing their friends hurt is much more upsetting to them than if they themselves were to be hurt, for much of their sense of security (and perhaps by extension, their being) derives from the support bulwark they establish by bonding with other people.
