With the reprint of the 2013 title, Menopause landing in the country soon .. we thought that it was a good time to share with you the Epilogue from the book..... The year 2011 saw the honour of the Nobel Peace Prize bestowed jointly upon three courageous women – Ellen Johnson Sirleaf and Leymah Gbowee of Liberia, and Tawakkul Karman of Yemen. Their prize motivation was for their non-violent struggle for the safety of women and for women’s rights to full participation in peace-building work. You might wonder how this can translate into a book such as this. Well, it is time for women to learn more about themselves, their rights, their freedoms, their possibilities, and how they can enrich themselves for a long and productive life. Here, the words of Ellen Johnson Sirleaf in her Nobel Peace Lecture, A Voice for Freedom: ‘If I might thus speak to girls and women everywhere, I would issue them this simple invitation: My sisters, my daughters, my friends, find your voices’. It is now time for all women to debate how they would like their middle life and elder years to be, and the kind of freedoms that they would like to have. We encourage you to find your voices and to start talking about the menopause, your menopause. DR BARRY G.
