With the risk of sounding like a total doofus, after having lived in my little caravan for two years, last night i accidentally found out i have hot water....agghhh is that not silly?? I have never really used the water tank as it had a leaking drain hose so didnt hold water. I am lazy, and given that the plumber who came to work on my propane line looked at the HWS and said it needed to be replaced, i figured i would just use a 3 gallon bottle and crock. Also issue of pipes freezing in winter. But a couple of weeks ago, as part of an overall home winterization/beautification bug, i finally worked out what i needed to fix the drain hose. Then i bought a garden hose, hooked into the tap outside the main house and filled the tank. Running cold water! (not for drinking) Perfectly fine in this muggy weather. Last night i accidentally turned the tap onto hot, and the water was indeed that. I was perplexed and thought at first it must have been such a hot day it warmed in the tank. But the cold water was still cold. Duh??? Checked in bathroom. Same. I found i had also turned the hot water switch on by accident. Which meant all the parts had lined up and voila! Hot water...... it is so unexpected and such fun......only took me two years..... :))
