Here is a timeline of WinSport’s contribution to sport over the years: • 1989 - Bob Niven Training Centre opens • 1989 - Beckie Scott Training Centre on Haig Glacier opens as a summer glacier nordic training facility • 1994 - Bill Warren Training Centre in Canmore opens • 1994 - National Sport School opens through a partnership between WinSport and the Calgary Board of Education • 2001 - The Ice House opens at Canada Olympic Park venue, adding to the growing number of high-performance facilities • 2002 - 15 ft halfpipe is created • 2003 - The Calgary Gymnastics Centre opens its doors to Canadas gymnastics teams and the winter sports including snowboard, freestyle and ski jumping. • 2005 - Camp Green on Farnham Glacier opens as a summer glacier training facility for alpine, snowboard and freestyle, skiercross, boardercross and now the Para-alpine team • 2006 - The 22-foot halfpipe opens, built to international standards it provides a world-class training and competition facility • 2006 - The freestyle aerials and moguls site is unveiled, utilizing the east side of the ski jump bowl with an adjacent alpine slalom course • 2007 - Expansion of the Bill Warren Training Centre is completed to improve the high-performance training facilities for the nordic sport groups • 2007 - Cross-country trails at Canada Olympic Park are expanded • 2010 - Markin McPhail Centre opens with 4 arenas winsport.ca/aboutwinsportcanada/what_we_give_back.cfm
