With the warmth of the spring sunshine come the sounds of children from the shire playing a lively game of hoodmans bluff. Benjamin Spencer the Tinkers son, has been chosen as first to wear the hood. A rather boisterous, but good natured lad, Benjamin is overly confident that he will easily identify the players while he is blindfolded and begins to spin around the required five times as the remainder of the children scatter to a hiding spot. The chiding, giggling children try to disguise their voices as young Spencer attempts to discover the identity of those who are calling out to him, not realizing a goat has wandered into the play yard right behind him! The ornery kid trots about as if it has become part of the game, darting this way and that while Benjamin stumbles forward calling out names. Hearing a new sound to his left, he responds to the neah, neah by declaring, is that you Marcus Finn? Again, neah, neah and by this time the certain young Spencer is about to remove his hood when the goat takes aim and rears up, striking his target and the children fall silent as Benjamin finds himself unceremoniously knocked to the ground, his pride being wounded more than anything else. As the boy removes his hood, the randy goat scampers off just as quickly as it came, leaving a befuddled young Spencer still guessing who had knocked him down. Now amused, having watched the entire scene unfold before her, the Gypsy takes hold of her naughty goat and heads back to camp.
