With there no longer being any war opposition in the US Congress, the President is already pushing for doubling ground forces in Iraq and nearly $6 billion in additional funding. Building on a decade of constant, multiple theater war and the black hole of debt associated with it we, as a nation, seem poised to fill the first two decades of the young century with bloodshed. The question becomes will the war weary citizens of the nation clamor for quick resolution or fall silent in their exhaustion and despair? Will the newly emboldened Republicans have their lead compromise with the President be war and destruction or will they push for domestic strength? While only time will tell us the answers, my hopes are not high.
