With this Ebola mess in the headlines and everyone afraid of the outcomes a question has come up. Many first responders and civilians being on the front lines. If you, as an LEO, are tasked with escorting an ambulance carrying a patient that is symptomatic, is vomiting, bleeding and is being assaultive. This same patient then escapes from the ambulance after over powering medical personnel. The question has been raised weather or not deadly force would be authorized. The patient is technically unharmed but still poses a possible deadly threat. How would you react? Would you pursue on foot without proper BSI (Body Substance Isolation)? Would you do your job to protect the public? With incidents like Ferguson and others in the media, where LEOs are tried and convicted before all the info is known, how would you react? Would groups like LULAC, NAACP and other rights groups get involved if the decision is made to take the patient out? So the question is, what would you do?
