With us not having a mid season players meeting and only half a dozen or so games left of the season i thought i would post my feelings as to how we as a club are doing, obviously these are only my opinions and other members may totally disagree with me. Having not seen too much of the 1st team due to the games being spread far and wide i cant say too much. But from what i saw yesterday i sincerely believe there is enough talent and fight in the team to gain the necessary points needed to stave of relegation. The umpiring decisions at the end of the game yesterday were terrible and with a bit more luck going our way i am sure things can be turned around. Having played the majority of the season in the 2nds i can give a better insight into our season so far. I have to say that the step up into this league has been massive and we have come up against some very good opponents thus far including Milfords openers yesterday. However, i still believe that had we been given fewer selection problems and been able to consistently field the same team for most of the season we would be in a far better position than we find ourselves. Then there is the 3rd team. Given the problems Melvin and Ian have had from the beginning of the season i have to congratulate them on still being in a position to fight for their place in Division 3 for next season. They have gone to play against regular 1st teams with at times only 9 men and come back with heads held high on numerous occasions. This now brings me to the main point of this post. I now think it is time to look at where we want to be next season and i personally think it will be terrible for the 3rd team to be relegated having hung on so bravely up to now. I am not a good enough player to help the 1st team but feel that i am more than capable of helping the 3rd team out for the remainder of the season and hopefully get enough points to stay up. Is it now time to put out the strongest possible 3rd team that we can as i am sure other teams in this position would do. I am fully aware that the final say on this comes down to the captains/committee and of course availability which has been a total disaster all season.
