Within the EUTEMPE-RX project, a course program for the medical - TopicsExpress

Within the EUTEMPE-RX project, a course program for the medical physicist who wants to advance his/her knowledge, skills and competences in diagnostic and interventional radiology (D&IR) is created. 12 modules to the medical expert level are created. Each module consists of an online phase and a face-to-face phase. The online phase can be completed at home over a longer period of time using a modern e-learning platform (allowing this process to be combined with a full-time job), while the face-to-face phase takes place on location over 3 to 6 days. Each module can be followed independently since it is unlikely for one person to be able to follow all modules and some people might only be interested in furthering their knowledge in one specific field. Successfully finishing the examination at the end of a module gives you a module certificate to prove you have mastered the required knowledge, skills and competences covered by the specific module. The pass grades are pass, merit and distinction. List of modules* Development of the profession and the challenges for the MPE (Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology) in Europe 9-13 February 2015, Prague, Czech Republic Radiation biology for medical physicists in radiology May 2015, Pavia, Italy** Monte Carlo simulations of X-ray imaging and patient dose 15-19 June 2015, Barcelona, Spain Innovation - Advanced X-ray physics for imaging device and user protocol innovation in D&IR 13-17 July 2015, Ferrara, Italy The use of physical and virtual anthropomorphic phantoms for image quality and patient dose optimization 7-13 September 2015, Varna, Bulgaria The development of advanced QA protocols for optimized use of radiological devices 9-14 November 2015, Leuven, Belgium Optimisation of X-ray imaging using standard and innovative techniques 20-23 October 2015, Guildford, United Kingdom Role of the medical physicist in CT imaging and patient dose optimization: CT imaging and patient dose optimized with objective means 14-18 March 2016, Lausanne, Switzerland Achieving quality in diagnostic and screening mammography 18-22 January 2016, Nijmegen, the Netherlands High dose X-ray procedures in Interventional Radiology and Cardiology: establishment of a robust quality assurance programme for patient and staff 13-18 February 2016, Udine, Italy Radiation dose management of pregnant patients, pregnant staff and paediatric patients in diagnostic and interventional radiology March 2016, Iraklion (Crete), Greece** Personnel dosimetry of the personnel - Preliminaries, Techniques and Applications 17-22 April 2016, Braunschweig, Germany *Titles and dates may still change (slightly). **The dates will be specified soon. The modules are aimed at medical physicists in hospitals, industry, regulatory authorities and research (e.g. PhD). Minimum entry requirements are: MSc in Medical Physics or equivalent + 2 years of experience in D&IR. Each module has an upper limit of 20 participants, except for module 1 (which has no upper limit). This means not everybody will be accepted so don’t book any flights or hotels until your registration is confirmed. There are no registration costs for any of the modules so the participants only have to cover the costs related to their flights, hotels and food. You can apply for one or more course modules. Complete the application form (attached), sign it, scan it and send it by e-mail to [email protected] (please include the words ‘Module Application’ in the e-mail header). Please add a short CV, letter of motivation and a letter of recommendation by your superior to this mail to convince the module leaders to accept you for their module. The application deadline is 2 months prior to the face-to-face phase of the course. You will be informed about whether or not you are accepted two weeks after this deadline. The information about module application and more information about the project itself can also be found on the website eutempe-rx.eu. Kind regards, The EUTEMPE-RX team
