Within the year film companies will force all theatres to switch to digital and will stop making movies on 35mm film. As a result, it is estimated that over half of the existing Drive-in Theatres in this country will close because of the much higher cost to equip a drive-in because of screen size and outside light conditions. Honda Motor Co. has introduced a campaign called Project Drive-in. People will vote for their favorite drive-in. The five drive-ins with the most votes will receive assistance on the digital conversion which will keep them in business and allow you to continue attending the Great American Drive-in theatre.
