Without a doubt, a Historic Structures Report is the best way to document all of the changes that a historic building has seen over time. The analysis of these changes helps to inform the property owner and the design team about what is worthy of preservation, and what is best to modify, repair or replace. This photo shows our first draft summary of the known changes in the public spaces at the Texas Governors Mansion. We used this method to get a visual understanding of the extent of changes made to this property. It turned out to be a very effective tool to communicate building evolution to many interested parties.
