Without action backing up the words, that is all this will ever be -- just words. Nefesh BNefesh, the Jewish Agency, Rabbis of Young Israel in Israel, the OU, Yeshiva University, YCT, all need to get their acts together to create a program, or various programs of RABBINICAL ALIYAH. They need to find a way to convince the Rabbis in the US that they must make aliyah and that their congregations must do the same. Until aliyah becomes the goal of religious Jewish life in Israel -- then those words remain words. But I remain cynical. The goal of religious Jewish life in the US is to make lots of money, to live in mansions, to have multiple late model cars, to go on expensive vacations, to send your children to get a Jewish education at very expensive Yeshivot. American Jews are proud of what they have accomplished in the US - Yeshivot, mikvaot, shuls abound. Jews can walk freely with kippot and tzitzit showing. (the recent knockout game notwithstanding). And they are so proud of all this that they have forgotten: THEY ARE IN GALUT! One is not supposed to WANT to remain in Galut!! And trust me, I am equally guilty. Life in the US is extremely seductive. Jews in the US are being seduced, insidiously, stealthily - and the deeper they are mired in the quagmire of galut, the more difficult it becomes to extract oneself from it. But the worst part of that is that the seduction is blinding -- those being seduced are unaware and are blinded to what is happening to them. lss.org/lss-blog.html?post_id=26521
