Without vitamin C humans get a disease called scurvy - TopicsExpress

Without vitamin C humans get a disease called scurvy (scheurbuik)— and die. All carnivores, like wolves, and dogs - being omnivores that evolved from wolves - possess the natural ability to make their own vitamin C. They manufacture vitamin C through their glandular systems. A healthy dog typically produces about 18mg of vitamin C for every pound of body weight (for example, a 50-lb. dog produces about 900mg per day) - that is without absorbing vitamin C from food. Priimates and humans on the other hand must eat oranges, and other fruits and vegetables which contain vitamin C, to survive.
