Witness (A fans statement related to participation in MM- related events in real time.) PART 2 of 2 Friend of the Constabulary and correspondent, Techtra, gives her contrast on the screening of the Murdoch Mysteries episode Holy Matrimony, Murdoch! that was held at CBC, on November 3rd, 2014: ------------------------------------------------- Murdoch Mysteries 100th Episode Celebration! I arrived at the CBC building at just about 5 (the event to begin at 7). There was already a crowd of a line-up, albeit, not too long of one (that would change in little time!) Having arranged to meet up with Gina I was lucky to spy her near-immediately as a tech breakdown had us incommunicado on the way there (there was also a ginger-haired Constable sighting while we waited in line, although he was undercover in a lime green sports jersey. ;) ) Once we were checked in, we were given MM 100th Episode/FALLforCBC containers of bubbles to make use of during the upcoming big moment -truth-be-told, we werent a very bubbly audience. :p But they came prepared for that... As we waited for episode hour in our seats, music played throughout the atrium and we agreed it wouldve been the topper on the cake had the music been Rob Carlis! Something Id like to highlight was how they had a TV set up with closed-captioning for the episode, and an ASL interpreter on hand for the panel, making the experience fully accessible. Though I am not deaf/HoH myself, Ive come to be more aware/appreciative of such measures (thanks to a certain FBI series which opened my Eyes to that world). I also found it cool from a technical standpoint, as there was a marked platform the interpreter stood on which caused her to appear on the smaller screens flanking the main one. Pre-episode -about 10 minutes to go- we were treated to a Behind-the-Scenes video where the cast, select crew/MM officials and creator, Maureen Jennings, shared their favourite moments from the past 7 years. A fine touch which served as the excitement-appetizer to the 100th, which was just about to air when sudden cheers alerted me to someones arrival--the good Detective himself, Yannick Bisson! Stepping up on stage, he said he had been handed the microphone and asked to welcome us. :) Delivering on the spontaneous request as the MM intro played behind him, Yannick quickly gave thankful shout-outs then said: And here we go! stepping off the stage and disappearing (to return later) while we all settled in with peaked anticipation. The episode elicited laugher and cheers, and as *the* moment arrived, my eyes were taken by iridescent orbs spilling down from the higher floors of the atrium. Such a sight! Such a moment! Afterward, we glimpsed Alex Reda, Murdoch Mysteries costume designer extraordinaire, who brought with him Julias wedding dress & Murdochs coattails to be visually taken in. Chairs were then brought onto stage in a slightly fanned arrangement, and one-by-one the panel guests were introduced. I believe best man Crabtree/Jonny Harris received the loudest cheers! Some stand-out moments for me from the Q&A were when showrunner Peter Mitchell commented on the concern some may have now that William & Julia have tied the knot, and later how there are a myriad of ways to kill people and innumerable ideas to keep episodes coming; shout-outs from the cast to different departments; Jonny fielding a question about dresses; Yannicks threat to withhold this seasons episode paying homage to the fanbase if talk of a Murdoch Musical keeps up; and Maureen answering how Detective Murdoch came into her mind! I had taken fast notes to share all of the Q&A that I could for this report, but as it happens you are saved from the results of my spontaneous-shorthand deciphering as CBC has made the panel available for all to view! Check it out below and let us know your favourite answers! Thank you, CBC! And applause-on to all of Murdoch Mysteries; a best-received series of Canada which began as best-selling novels by the aforementioned and bubbly Maureen Jennings! :) youtu.be/hd8ims28SS8
