Woke up at 5:15, and it was a couple of minutes before I realized there was a constant roar (my place is well insulated). Looked out the front door, and the rain was unbelievable -- constant, like being poured out of a bucket, with not even a breeze. Then I went to the back door, and the roar on my 64x12 steel carport roof was deafening. I noticed the owner/managers car was gone; but it soon drove by, and continued going about the park as he was probably checking the drainage and looking for signs of trouble. That told me the heavy rain had probably been falling for several minutes if he was already out on an inspection tour; Id never seen him drive around during downpours before. It continued unabated until 5:45, when it suddenly stopped like somebody turned the faucet off. Ive never seen such a sustained, astounding downpour here. I can only hope and pray that it hasnt spelled disaster or tragedy for others. The Weather Channel did mention that a boulder washed loose and went through a cars windshield in Running Springs. Dont know if the car was parked or in motion. Stay safe, everyone! Still have to find out if Brandy made it safely over the hills to 6 a.m. volleyball practice at MSJCC.
