Woke up early (for me.) Cant sleep. This deep night amplifies my thoughts. I was praying for my family and asking God to make up for all the mistakes I have made as a husband/father/son/brother. You cant go back and straighten the crooked paths of your past. You cant uncrush things. But God can make all things new. He can straighten the paths we walk. He can lead us into straight paths. And in doing so, He gets glory through restoration. He is glorified in wisdom on the front end. But if that doesnt play out like it should, He can still get glory by redeeming on the backend. In fact, God will get His glory one way or another. The question becomes, will we be part of the glory-givers, or will He just have to take it from us? One of the things I have found is that we tend to believe God can fix broken pieces of pottery. But when we have crushed things to the point where they are only broken pieces of dust, we either write those off, or we allow them to destroy our experience because they are such painful memories. But it is just as easy for God to piece together broken pieces of dust as it is to restore hairline fractures. God restores because that is Who He is... the Restorer. The road to restoration is on a path that is made straight by the One who walked it before you were born. Be encouraged. Your journey is not yours alone. Prepare the way of the Lord in the wilderness; make a straight highway for our God in the desert. Every valley will be lifted up, and every mountain and hill will be leveled; the uneven ground will become smooth and the rough places, a plain. - Isaiah 40:3-4 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; think about Him in all your ways, and He will guide you on the right paths. - Proverbs 3:5-6 I have not already reached the (ultimate) goal and am not already fully mature, but I make every effort to take hold of it because I also have been taken hold of by Christ Jesus. Brothers, I do not consider myself to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and reaching forward to what is ahead, I pursue as my goal the prize promised by God’s heavenly call in Christ Jesus. Therefore, all who are mature should think this way. And if you think differently about anything, God will reveal this also to you. In any case, we should live up to whatever truth we have attained. - Philippians 3:12-16
